I have been drawing for many years but have been trying to find a way to make my work stand out more – come out off the page and come alive! I tried everything from learning to draw in 3D – which was a disaster, to adding paint and pastels, which again, didn’t quite have the effect I was looking for! I have always been fascinated with paper and the wonderful things you can make from something so simple, and so readily available. So it occurred to me after quite sometime, why not use it in my pictures? So, I found myself a fantastic quilling teacher and I’ve been hooked ever since! I love it! When I draw a picture now, I think of how it would be so much better to bring it to life with some quilled details. The work is very intricate and time consuming, but the end result is amazing.
I’ve since completed quite a few pictures which have now been sold, and I am continuing to come up with new ideas, each one as challenging as the next. As they have become so popular, I came up with the idea of having some prints done of the quilled pictures. At first, I didn’t think it would work, but with a bit of research, I was able to find the right person to photograph my pictures and capture the 3D effect in print.
